Helmet Maintenance: Keep Your Gear Safe and Fresh

Simple maintenance habits that prolong helmet life and preserve protection for Kenyan riders.

Helmet Maintenance: Keep Your Gear Safe and Fresh

Clean the shell and visor regularly

Use mild soap and water on the outside shell to remove dust, oil and grime. Avoid harsh chemicals that can weaken the shell or decals.

Clean the visor inside and out with a soft cloth to maintain visibility, especially when riding after sunset or in light rain.

  • Soft cloth or microfiber towel
  • Mild soap and water
  • Avoid abrasive materials

Air out the interior after every ride

Kenyan heat and sweat can build odors quickly. Remove and air dry liner pads if your helmet model allows it.

If the liner is not removable, leave the helmet in a shaded, ventilated area after riding to avoid moisture buildup.

Inspect your helmet before every long ride

Check the chin strap, buckle and interior padding for wear. Replace any damaged parts promptly.

If the helmet has been involved in a crash, replace it even if it looks undamaged. Internal damage may not be visible.
